Anderson's gone Organic

I never thought I would be an organic freak.  Trust me I am not quite a freak yet.  But the other day Ethan and I decided (well I decided but made Ethan watch it also) to watch a documentary called "Food Inc.".  Oh my word let me tell you did it change my world!
I always pride myself on being a so called "healthy" eater.  I love fresh fruit & veggies!  Yum.  I do on the occasion like to eat Taco Bell or McDonald's with the kids.  I don't think of that as a bad thing.  I know everything in moderation is fine.  But is it really fine if what we are eating in moderation is not raised to our highest standards?
I don't want to go into complete detail about the movie because I believe that everyone should see it for themselves.  I for one want to know what is being put into my body.  My body is a temple and I should treat it that way.  I also want to know what I am putting into my children's mouth.  I believe everyone should watch it for knowledge about what is being put into our food that we think is "healthy".  Not knowing or not caring to know about what is in our food is just saying that you don't care about your body or what is being put in your body.

Being organic.

1.  I for one, know it is expensive to buy organic foods.  But when you buy them they taste so much better than "non" organic food.

2.  Grow your own garden.  So easy and cheap!  I know it is hard work, but it is so worth it in the end.  When you have your own tomatoes that you grew all by yourself it will be so worth it!  I have heard so many people say "I love fresh from the garden tomatoes"!

3.  Buy some chickens or half of a cow from a local farmer.  Make sure when and if you do this that they are grass fed.  Very important.  Grass is what cows are supposed to be eating.  So much healthier for you also.

4.  Grow your own chickens.  I mean obviously if you don't own a home or can't grow chickens this one isn't for you.  But when I was growing up we had chickens and we have to always go get the eggs (which we hated by the way) from the nest.  It was a good learning experience for kids and adults.  We are going to be getting chickens this summer.

5.  Buy from a farmers market.  I know they don't have them around just yet, but that is best way to be organic also.  These are local farmers that are selling their food.  Food that doesn't have any pesticides in it.

Just remember your body is a temple of God and you want to honor your body.  The best way to do that is to be mindful of what you are putting into your mouth.  If you ever get the chance to rent Food Inc.  I would do it!  It's better be knowledgeable about your food.  I heard this great quote that says  "The Truth is heavy, therefore few care to carry it".

We have been organic for about 2-3 weeks now.  I can say for my whole family that we feel much better.  I can tell now that when I eat something that isn't organic my tummy will tell me right away.  Which let me tell you isn't fun, because sometimes I want bad food.  You kind of crave it if you haven't had it in awhile.  So once you do give in and get that pizza or Buffalo wings, it really wasn't worth all the hype you thought it was.  Your mind makes it a bigger deal than it really is.  But honestly my digestion is so much better with organic foods.  I guess I never realized how much my body was telling me that the food I was eating isn't good for me.  But being organic I have very rare issues with my stomach anymore!  Trust me guys you don't have to just jump right into being organic.  Take little steps and start buying organic crackers, or organic milk, or yogurt.  You don't have buy everything organic your first shopping trip.  I just want everyone to be mindful of their food.

Peace.

My new Closet

Ethan and I for the longest time have been trying to figure how we can get more room in our closet.  We both have a lot of clothes.  Every time I buy something new I always try to sell something that I don't wear that much.  Which I am very bad at because I always think, Oh this is cute I'll remember to wear that.  But I never do.  So Ethan and I have been talking about finishing the downstairs basement and build our dream closet.  When we started talking more and more about it, it only makes sense we make the downstairs into two rooms, instead of just one.  We will get a better value out of house if we have 4 bedrooms instead of 3.  So Ethan decided that night he was going to remake our closet!

Here is our closet before, Not very clean I know!

Here it is all cleaned out

Last but not least, the finished product!  I would have to say Ethan did a great job!!

So much cleaner and organized!

So excited for the new cleaner and bigger closet!  Which is good and bad, cause now I can fit more clothes in here!

Peace.

La vita e bellissima!

Many of you might not know this but I am a total spur the moment kind of person!  If I have plans I am more likely to change them just because I like to do stuff last minute.
Well, yesterday Ethan and I were going to go on a date.  I said to him "Hey I kinda wanna get my tattoo today".  Kinda of joking kinda being serious.  Well after the babysitter got here I was still looking for just the right font, I knew what saying I was going to get though.  Some of you might say, hmmm maybe you should wait and really think about something that is going to be on your body forever.  I agree.  But I knew exactly what I wanted and where I wanted it!

 La Vita e Bellissima
Beautiful Life

That's exactly what I think about my life.  God has given me a beautiful life, with a beautiful husband, beautiful kids.  I am thankful everyday to God for giving me them!

Without further adieu, My Tattoo!

Peace.

3 tricks to make yourself look more awake!

New baby?  No sleep?  Sick kids?  I know the feeling of waking up in the morning with about 3 hours of sleep, and saying to myself Oh man I'm gonna look like crap today!  Well, you don't have to anymore!  I am by no means a makeup artist, or did I even go to school for makeup.  I do however like to research and do makeup.  I have found three of my favorite ways to look more awake.

1.  Concealer

This in my opinion is a very important step in making your eyes not look so tired.  If you get dark circles or bags under your eyes, this is a must.  Even if you don't get bags or dark circles I recommend using a concealer.  It almost makes the effect of an eye lift.  When using this I just put it directly under my eyes in a triangle shape.

This is the concealer I use everyday.

If you can see I only put the concealer underneath the left eye.

I know this looks a little scary but this is the "triangle" shape under the eye I use.  Once you blend it in, it looks much better!

2. A light almost white eyeshadow in the corner of your eye.

This really makes your eyes pop.  I take a little makeup brush and put the eye shadow right in the corner of my eyes.  It helps people look more at your eyes than anything else.  If you think white is too dramatic for first trying this out I would use a shimmery beige color.

This is the color I almost always use for the corner of my eyes.  It's from the Naked Palette, called "Virgin"

These are other colors I used in the corner of my eye sometimes too!  They are not expensive and you can find them at the drugstore.

Right in the corner of the eye

3.  Use a white, peach, or skin colored eye pencil in your waterline.

If you don't know where your waterline is, it's underneath your eye where your eyelid touches your eyeball.  This opens up your eyes a ton.  It makes you look more awake and your eyes bigger.  I know when you first apply the eye pencil it will look scary, but trust me once you put your mascara on it will look great.

I know it might look a little dramatic now, but once you finish your mascara it will look much better.

And the finished product

Those are my 3 tricks to make you look more awake!  I hope you enjoyed it!

Peace.

How I keep my tan year round WITHOUT a tanning bed!!

Ok everyone here it is!  My blog about how I personally stay tan year round with out a tanning bed!  I am very excited about this one actually.  Just last year I was tanning in a bed to keep up with my darker skin color.  I, like everyone else don't like to be white.  I do have an easier time getting tan than most just because I am part spanish. (thanks mom!)  So I normally don't have to tan a lot to get dark!  But even so I know you can get prewrinkles, skin cancer and such.  So I found that it's not worth it anymore.
I started to try to find cheaper ways of keeping my tan up without being in a bed!  A mystic tan is great, but really $27.00 for one tan PLUS it only lasts a week!  So I decided that wasn't it for me.  I bought a Victoria Secret tanning lotion.  I did not like it!  It made me tan but the color ran onto my clothes when I would workout!  I hated that!!
So I did more research on the best lotion out there!  I found a lot of people raving about this stuff called Flawless Fake & Bake!  You can buy this at Ulta or Amazon.  I personally bought mine at Amazon because it was $13 and some shipping fees, compared to Ulta where it was $22 or so
In the box you get the spray bottle, a brown mitt, and gloves.  Which I think the mitt is the best way to apply this stuff!

HOW I APPLY MY SELF TANNER

1. Take a shower and EXFOLIATE!  This step is so very important, because you if don't exfoliate, you'll have dead skin and your tan will be uneven

2. Dry with a towel and apply NO lotion afterwards.  Also very important, applying lotion will actually put a barrier between your skin and the self tanner. So you actually won't get a tan

3. Put a towel on the ground.  You don't want to get your self tanner everywhere

4. I apply to my arms first.  Spray directly to your skin and then rub in with the mitt

5. Apply neck and chest.  Make sure when you apply you don't miss any parts of your body.  Neck and behind ears is very important.

6. Apply rest of your body.  Face is last.

7. When applying to the face I spray the mitt directly and dab onto my face and then rub in.  This part can get tricky but it's easier than you think.

This stuff drys amazingly fast and doesn't come off on in your clothes!  Wait 6 hours to shower again.  I normally do this at night, sleep and then wake up and shower it off.  It has never came off in my bed.
My friend Danae has not tanned in a bed since her wedding!!  So I decided she should try it since she is a little whiter!  Here are her results!!

AFTER

This was only with one layer! If she wanted more color we could have done even more.  But also remember this was right after the tan.  It will get darker the more the day goes on!!

My other friend Rachel tried it too!  Here are her results!

Hope you guys enjoyed my Blog today!!

Monday Madness!

Happy Monday Everyone!
We had a very fun day today.  Little Miss Nevaeh got to go to Nana's house today to have a play date & Sleepover!  So that meant that me and Austin got to hangout all day!!
We first started out our day by going to the movie The Lorax.  Which we already loved because we have the book.  Austin makes me read it to him almost every night!  So all in all we loved the movie.  It was a great way to learn about how important our trees are to the earth!
After the movie we went to Target (Of course)

This was the food we got!  I am OBSESSED with this Cascadian Farm Granola!  I use it everyday on my Greek yogurt!  I also saw this Bear Naked Crunch cereal.  Which looked amazing, and with my new found love of everything organic I had to buy it.

OK so onto my beauty items I bought!  I got some makeup remover called "Yes to Carrots".  Which in my amazement is organic and has all natural ingredients.  So I am so very excited to try that out!  I also wanted to buy some more of these "nail art pen".  Which I have one in white and I absolutely LOVE it!  So I got a purple and a pink one.  I wanted to try to make a cute "Easter" Nail art!
Lastly but most exciting I bought the Hunger Games!!  Eek.  My best friend informed that this is a GREAT book!  So I obviously had to buy it as soon as possible!  I read all the Twilight Books and loved them, so I am hoping that this book is as good or better!!  We will see and I will keep you updated!

Well everyone I hope you liked my Monday blog for the day!!  Hope everyone has a great week!!
Peace.
